Pastor Jaes A. Frey

Pastor Frey was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. His father was a Lutheran minister, as was his Grandfather. And so after attending grade school in the Detroit Public School system, he went to Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, Michigan, to begin twelve years of training for the Holy Ministry. Upon graduation he enrolled at Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree and then went on to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin, where he received a Master of Divinity Degree. Upon his ordination in July of 1979 Pastor Frey was called to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hart, Michigan. He served this congregation for ten years, in which, among other things, God blessed the church with a new building. In 1989 Pastor Frey accepted a Call to be minister of St. Paul's Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Belleville, Michigan, where he has been serving his Savior ever since. In 1979 Pastor Frey married Sandy Shellenbarger from South St. Paul, Minnesota. They met at Sandy's Church, where Pastor Frey served one year as a vicar. God has blessed them with four children and fourteen grandchildren.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus. (1 Corinthians 1:3) With these words the Apostle Paul greeted the Christians in the church of Corinth, and with these same words I now greet you. And this is my prayer: That God would someday give me the privilege of serving you, perhaps even as a member of our St. Paul's family!

We are a church that exists for one very glorious purpose:

To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and so to share the grace and peace that are ours through him.

Indeed, I thank my God through Jesus Christ, my Lord, that he has called me into the Office of the Holy Ministry that I might proclaim this Gospel through preaching and the Sacraments. For the Gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. (Romans 1:16).

I invite you now to look carefully through our website. If you have any questions or comments, I urge you to send them to me. I promise I will try to answer them to the very best of my ability, as soon as I am able to do so.

Oh, and of course, together with the members of St. Paul's Evangelical-Lutheran Church I invite you to attend our Sunday morning Service, which begins at 9:30. In so doing you too can hear the Gospel that our Lord and Savior proclaims for the salvation of everyone who believes. To him alone be the glory both now and forever! Amen.

In Jesus, Name,

Pastor James A. Frey
